Broken Front Screens are The Most Common Repair
As you can expect broken front screens top the list for Android, iOS and Windows devices, and if you read through our Top 50 Crazy Ways That People Have Broken Their Mobile Phones you will see most of these involve some kind of smashed screen mishap.
A broken screen can relate to a number of issues, it could be the glass that has broken, the LCD display, or the digitiser. iMend use the highest quality bonded units in our repairs which means that the digitiser that makes the touch screen work, the LCD, and glass are all bonded together as a unit. This eliminates any issues occurring from fitting these parts individually and running into misalignment between the display, glass and the digitiser.
You can read more about what to do if you have a broken screen, here.
In total, broken screens accounted for 66.2% of our mobile phone repairs, which goes to show that people really need to hold onto their devices. The other 33.8% were made up of other repairs such as battery replacements, button faults, sound issues and charging issues.
Android Mobile Phone Repairs
The Galaxy S5 is just over a year old and tops our table of the highest Android repairs, which isn’t a surprise since the phone sold over 12 million units in just 3-months when it was first released. What is a surprise is that the S4 came in second because this version of the Galaxy range actually sold only 4 million more units in the same time period. (source:statisticbrain.com).
Sony are the other Android manufacturer that appear in our list of top repairs. Over the last 5 years Sony have started to make their mark on the market with the Xperia Z series of phones, in particular the Z1 and Z2, which have made a positive impact for Sony. However, the Xperia Z3 was discontinued by T-Mobile this month after just 6 months of being released but still made it into the top 5.

iOS Mobile Phone Repairs
Despite the 5S, 5C, 6 and 6+ being newer than the iPhone 5, it didn’t stop the 2012 iPhone topping our iOS table.
Perhaps the sales figures show insight to why the iPhone 5 tops the table when you see that 91 million iPhone 5’s were sold, compared to 10 million for the 5S and just over 2.5 million for the 5C.
You will see that the iPhone 4S has brought up the rear of our list, with a battery replacement repair. What you have to remember is that this phone is a few months away from being 4 years old, and as the iPhone 4S was discontinued in 2014 a fair amount of batteries will need to be replaced.
Still, the iPhone 4S is an efficient and popular phone that carries a respectable second hand value of less than £100, so more and more people are buying this model as either a backup phone or as their first step onto the Apple market.

Windows Mobile Phone Repairs
Earlier last month we made an announcement that not only do we repair iPhones, but we now do call-out and mail-in repairs for other phones.
Since then, the Lumia range of Windows phones have come pouring in, in particular the Lumia 520 and the Lumia 930, both suffering from broken front screens. Top of the pops is the Lumia 520, no surprise there, as this is the best selling Windows phone on the planet at the moment, with over 12 million units sold.
Generally the Nokia Lumia 630 and 520 screens are in the same price bracket as the iPhone 5, so you can expect to pay around £69.99 for a screen replacement on these. The Lumia 930 is slightly more expensive because its boasts a 5-inch screen size.
As the months pass we will see this table of repairs start to increase as more people use iMend to fix their Windows phones.
