iMend’s iTech of the Month – May 2015

For the month of May we congratulate Rob, who has been awarded the title of iTech of the Month, who has been working his fingers to the bone, repairing phones and delighting customers with his level of workmanship.

We decided to take time-out and ask Rob about his life as an iTechnician, and how working as an iMend approved technician has been so far.

Take it away Rob:

  1. How long have you been working in the industry?

I have been working in the industry for around 3 years now.  A family member gave me the opportunity to learn and since then I have not looked back! Always learning!!

  1. What do you love most about being an iTech for iMend?

I really enjoy getting out and about and meeting such a wide array of interesting characters.  Plus, being part of the iMend team is a real pleasure.  Everyone at iMend are always brimming with positivity and ready to go that extra mile for you whenever it is needed, it’s a really refreshing change!

  1. What’s the worst repair you have ever had to do?

By a country mile the worst repair I have ever had to carry out would be a recent water damage phone dropped down the toilet.  The customer did manage to get the phone to me quickly and I did manage to save it. However, the drying out process was one of the most nasty repairs I have ever experienced, needless to say, rubber gloves were used!!!

  1. What phone do you have to repair the most?

For most of last year the iPhone 5 was the most common.  Since then however the iPhone 5C seems to have taken over.

  1. What’s the strangest scenario you have ever encountered?

The strangest scenario I’ve encountered has to be when I was at the Christmas party with iMend at the Red Carpet Cinema.  I ordered Peking Pizza, however I ended up with Lasagne for dinner whilst another member of the iMend team seemed to be happily enjoy the Peking Pizza he didn’t order though! 🙂   Phone wise, the repair of a 5s which had fallen over 100ft from a theme park ride was quite interesting as I managed to save his original casing to the phone!!

  1. What gives you the most job satisfaction?

Customer satisfaction.  To know that my customers are happy is the most important thing in my work.  Without happy customers you don’t have much, or not for long anyway!

  1. What do you like to do in your spare time?

My spare time is taken up mostly by my family.  I have a wonderful wife Claire and two adorable children Holly (6) and Jack (8 months).  When I do manage to squeeze 5 mins in here or there I spend my time looking after my tropical and marine fish.  I also paint Games Workshop figures as my hobby, something I’ve done now for over 20 years.  I am a member of the Val of Belvour Pool League who play every Thursday evening.  We are currently in the 1st division.  I also like to try and squeeze in a Sunday morning air rifle shoot every now and again.

  1. Anything else you would like to add?

I would like to add that my work has gone from strength to strength since joining the iMend brand and I would also just to say thank you for Picking me and hopefully I’ll have plenty more iTech of the Months in the future!!
